Rites Held For Minnie Meyer

Minnie Meyer, 86, of Grundy Center, passed away at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital on Monday, June 11.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 13, at 10 a.m. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, rural Holland, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

She is survived by one son Merle, Grundy Center; five daughters, Marcella (Mrs. Lyle) Doak, Doris (Mrs. Bill) Kuhlman, and Wava (Mrs. Jake) Hemmen, all of Grundy Center, Iva Dell (Mrs. Virgil) Getting and Anna Mae (Mrs. Eldon) Klaassen, both of Holland; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Minnie Meyer Rites Are Held

Minnie Meyer, 86, of Grundy Center, passed away on Monday, June 11, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 13, at 10 a.m. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, rural Holland, with Pastor Loren J. Kotman officiating.

Casket bearers were Lyle Doak, Jimmy Getting, Eldon Klaassen, Jake Hemmen, Bill Kuhlman and Virgil Getting.

Ushers were John Seehusen and Herman Akkerman. Cora Slifer and Ruth Ascher were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Minnie Meyer was born December 27, 1903, to Aike and Anna Meyer Kruse in Colfax Township, Grundy County. She grew up and was educated in Grundy County.

On March 22, 1922, Minnie was united in marriage to Marcus Meyer. They began farming on the Meyer family farm in Palermo Township. In 1970, they retired and moved to Grundy Center.

Minnie was a member of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church since May 18, 1924.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Johnny, Arend, and one infant brother; four sisters, Tena Knock, Gertie Heerts, Jennie Heerts and Dena Slifer.

Minnie is survived by one son Merle, of Grundy Center; five daughters, Marcella, Mrs. Lyle Doak, Doris, Mrs. Bill Kuhlman, Wava, Mrs. Jake Hemmen, all of Grundy Center, Iva Dell, Mrs. Virgil Getting, and Anna Mae, Mrs. Eldon Klaassen, both of Holland; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
