Clyde Ware Buried In Grundy Center

Clyde H. Ware, 74, of Webster City, died Sunday evening, Dec. 24, at the Hamilton County Hospital where he had been a patient for one day. He had been in failing health the past month.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Vernon Sorensen officiating. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery at Grundy Center. Graveside flag-folding was conducted by the Grundy Center Amvet Veterans Post #17.

Masonic services were conducted by Acacia Lodge No. 176 on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 8 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home.

Clyde Ware, son of Charles and Susan Hess Ware, was born July 31, 1915, on a farm in Hardin county.

He graduated from Grundy Center High School, earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa and earned his master's degree from Iowa State University.

On Aug. 26, 1939, he married Nadine Johnson at Eldon, MO.

He was a high school industrial arts teacher in Hampton, Mason City, Humboldt, Fort Dodge and Webster City. His teaching career spanned 30 years and he retired in 1976.

He also taught at a U.S. Navy base at Norman, OK. He served as a U.S. Navy officer in the Pacific Theater of action during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Suzanne (Mrs. Herbert) Selby of Ocean, NJ, and Vicki Loomer of Webster City; one son, Terry Ware of Marshalltown; five grandchildren, Richard Selby, San Francisco, CA, Amanda, Charles and Andrea Ware of Marshalltown and Tiffany Loomer of Webster City.

Also surviving are two sisters, Joyce Petersen of Dysart and Barbara Doss of Newberry, OH; and two brothers, Louis Ware of Conrad and Charles Ware of Grundy Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Acacia Lodge No. 176 A.F. & A.M., and the Order of the Eastern Star No. 148.
