Rites Tuesday For Mrs. Jennie Butler

Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Butler, longtime Conrad resident who died last Thursday in Florida, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnston Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Shaw and Rev. R. O. Grote officiating.

Burial was in Oakland Cemetery at Beaman with rites by St. Elmo Chapter No. 398 O.E.S.

Special music for the service was provided by Miss Evelyn Stevens.

Casket bearers were Donald Slinker, Arthur Prescott, James Jebousek, Dale Smith, Robert Shepherd and Eldon Ohrt.

Serving as flower attendants were Mrs. Barbara Larson, Mrs. Floyd Bartholomew, Mrs. Donald Slinker and Mrs. Eldon Ohrt.

Jennie Hawley Butler was born December 26, 1890, in Ottawa, Ill., the only daughter of Rebecca and Charles Hawley, who formerly resided at Beaman.

On September 17, 1910, she was married to Carroll W. Butler who passed away in 1964. The time of her residence in this community was about 40 or 45 years. Mr. Butler had been born in Washburn, Ill.

Mrs. Butler was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Conrad, the Order of Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors of America.

Surviving are two sons, Carroll and Grant of San Antonio, Texas, two daughters, Jeanette Smith and Genevieve Morgan of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, two brothers, George Hawley of Grundy Center and Robert Hawley of Reinbeck.
