Reinbeck Farmer Dies Riding Tractor

Harvey C. Lorenz, 55, a farmer near Reinbeck, died unexpectedly while planting corn on his farm last Wednesday.

The attack came on while he was riding on his planter, and he fell from the seat of the tractor. The planter passed over his body.

The planter and tractor continued on down the cornfield without a driver and came to a stop in a neighbor's field. George Ehlers, the neighbor farmer, found the machine stalled in his field and discovered Harvey Lorenz' body.

The county medical examiner at Grundy Center was called. After he examined the body he expressed the belief Lorenz died from the heart attack before the machinery passed over his body.

Survivors are the widow and the brother Lester from Reinbeck.

Services were held Sunday afternoon in the United Church of Christ at Reinbeck. Burial was in the Reinbeck cemetery. The French funeral home had charge of funeral arrangements.
