Tom Connell Dies Of Heart Attack

Tom Connell, 61, widely known Clay township farmer, died of a heart attack about 2:30 p.m. Monday while doing field work on his farm four miles north of Conrad.

The body was discovered by a Conrad man, Jack Hughes, who drove by the Connell farm and noticed the body slumped over the steering wheel of the tractor.

Apparently Tom had time to stop the tractor and take it out of gear before he died. The engine was still running when Hughes arrived.

A doctor was immediately summoned, and then the body was removed to the Johnston Funeral Home at Conrad.

Thomas James Connell was born January 19, 1905, at Beaman, the son of William and Kathryn Connell. He spent his entire life farming in the Beaman-Conrad area.

He was united in marriage to Alice Boss in 1926 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grundy Center.

Survivors include his widow and one son, Larry, of Winona, Minn.; and four sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Eleanor) Murphy of Dike, Mrs. George (Anne) Fisher of Grundy Center, Mrs. Gene (Mary) Murphy of Dike, and Mrs. Paul (Agnes) Hunt Sr. of Albion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant children.
