Henry F. Sprague Died Tuesday

Henry F. Sprague, 77, sexton at the Grundy Center cemetery the past 33 years, passed away at his home in Grundy Center Tuesday evening about 10 o'clock. Death was due to carcinoma. He had surgery at the Grundy County memorial hospital in February and had been home about a month.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, at the First Baptist church at 2 o'clock. Rev. J. C. Ford will officiate. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery. The body will be at the Ferree Funeral Home until time to take it to the church.

Henry Sprague was born February 1, 1889, on a farm in Palermo township, the son of Clarence and Abbie Sprague. He graduated from the Grundy Center high school in 1908.

He married Mina M. Diehl November 24, 1910. They lived on a farm in Clay township for five years before moving to Grundy Center in 1916. Prior to becoming sexton of the cemetery he managed the ice plant in Grundy Center for 11 years.

Mr. Sprague is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Gladys) Conradi, Grundy Center; two sons, Ralph, of Grundy Center, and Robert of Newton; one brother, Edgerton Sprague of Santa Ann, Calif.; also 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
