Mrs. Lena Peters Found Dead at Home

Mrs. Lena Peters was found dead on the floor in her home in Grundy Center last Thursday. Death was believed to have been the result of a sudden heart attack. She was found by a neighbor several hours after her death. The body was taken to the Engelkes Funeral Home, where funeral arrangements were made. She was 76 years old.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon in Bethany Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Reformed church cemetery. Rev. A. J. Straatmeyer officiated at the services.

Mrs. Peters was born on a farm in Pleasant Valley township on March 30, 1890. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Groen. She grew up on the farm. In 1914 she and Henry Peters were married. They began farming in Colfax township after their marriage. Mr. Peters died Dec. 24, 1918. After her husband's death, Mrs. Peters lived at various places in Beaver and Colfax townships. She moved to Grundy Center in 1936 and lived alone.

Surviving are three children, Ella, Mrs. Casper Niehaus, Ackley, Janet, Mrs. Ernest Flater, Grundy Center, and John H. Peters, Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also two sisters: Mrs. Harm VanHauen, of Holland, Mrs. Arend Goldhorn, Parkersburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and one sister.
