Mrs. Will Meester Died Tuesday

Mrs. William Meester died Tuesday at her home in Pleasant Valley township. Death followed a stroke which she suffered three weeks ago. She was 84 years old.

The body was taken to the Engelkes funeral home at Parkersburg where funeral arrangements were made. The body will be taken to the home on Thursday where it will remain until the service at the Reformed church in Stout at one o'clock Saturday. Burial will be in the cemetery at Stout.

Her two sons, Harvey and Harold, had been living with their mother in their farm home. Another son, Jake G., lives at Parkersburg, and a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Hartman, resides at Aplington.

Obituary

Mrs. Ida Meester, nee Agena, daughter of Emil and Antje Agena, was born on October 25, 1881, in Ogle County, Ill. She passed away at her home on Tuesday morning, March 1, 1966 following a stroke on Feb. 9. She reached the age of 84 years, 4 months and 4 days.

When she was 3 years of age she came with her parents to Grundy county, settling on a farm 2 miles south of Buck Grove. She was raised in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church at Holland, Ia., where she received her instruction in the Christian faith. For almost all of her married life she attended the Reformed Church of Stout of which she became a communicant member in 1960.

On March 2, 1904 she was united in marriage to Will Meester. After the death of her husband she continued to make her home on the farm with Harvey and Harold where she resided for the past 62 years.

To this union were born 10 children, three of whom died in infancy. She was preceded in death by one son, Edwin, in 1914 and by her husband in 1949 and two daughters, Anna, Mrs. Geo. Renken in 1957 and Emma, Mrs. William Andreessen in 1958, as well as her parents. Three sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons, Jake G., Harvey, and Harold W., all of Parkersburg, and one daughter, Esther, Mrs. Lawrence Hartman of Aplington. There are also 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, besides a large host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 5, with a prayer service at 12:30 p.m. at the family home and at 1:00 p.m. at the Reformed Church of Stout, Ia. with Rev. J. Hoekstra officiating. Miss Elaine Arends served as organist. Mrs. J. Hoekstra sang two numbers, "All the Way My Saviour Leads Me" and I Will Pilate Thee."

Casket bearers were grandchildren, Lowell Andreessen, LaVerne Andreessen, Rodney Hartman, Lloyd Lien, Roger Renken, and Delbert Kalkwarf. Interment was at the Stout cemetery.
