J. Tonnesen Dies Unexpectedly

Jens Tonnesen, 80, passed away quite unexpectedly this past Monday. He became ill late in the afternoon and was transferred via the Dike ambulance to the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls about 6:30 p.m. He passed away of a coronary condition at 9:30 p.m. Body was taken to the Dahl Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Services are pending at the Fredsville Lutheran church with burial in the Fredsville cemetery.

He was born Aug. 16, 1885 in Samso, Denmark, the son of Bodil and Tonnes Tonnesen. He came to the United States in 1904 and made several trips back to his native home. He was married in Denmark on Aug. 16, 1919. His wife passed away in Cedar Falls in 1924.

He farmed for 15 years in the Dike and Cedar Falls areas and for over 25 years has been a McConnon Salesman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers--Ole, Ray, and Axel, two sisters, Dorothea and Anna.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Max (Viola) Ipson of Oxnard, Calif., an adopted daughter, Mary, at home, one sister, Mrs. Jim Holm of Waterloo, 5 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Service will be at the Fredsville Lutheran church Friday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. The body is at the Dahl Funeral home in Cedar Falls.
