Mrs. Werkman Dies At Home Saturday

Mrs. Winnie Werkman, 82, died Saturday about 8 p.m. at her home here. Death was due to cancer.

Services were Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Holland Christian Reformed church. Burial was in the Holland cemetery.

She was born in Ostwald, The Netherlands, Aug. 29, 1883, a daughter of Harm and Grace Smit. She was married there Feb. 15, 1907, to Dick Werkman. The couple came to Holland April 10, 1910.

Mr. Werkman died in September, 1955.

Survivors include six sons, Onno of Kalamazoo, Mich., Henry of Grundy Center, Harm of Waterloo, and Dick of Holland, George of Mt. Vernon, and Jake of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Mrs. George Harms of Holland, Mrs. Adolph VanDeest of Grundy Center and Miss Winnie Werkman at home; 25 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jake Smit of Iowa Falls.

She was preceded in death by two children in infancy and one brother.
