Former Dike Woman Traffic Fatality

Mrs. Charles (Hannah) Martin, 73, of Linden, Ia., was one of the fourteen persons who died on Iowa's fog covered highways this past weekend.

Mrs. Martin died when her car went off a highway junction about two miles north of Linden last Sunday morning. Mrs. Martin was enroute to Dike to visit her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. McKinder.

Funeral services were to be held in Linden yesterday morning, Wednesday, Nov. 10, with burial services at the Dike Elmwood cemetery in the afternoon.

Mrs. Martin was born Hannah McKinder on March 27, 1893, in Hiteman, in Monroe county. She was married to Rev. Charles Flagler Martin on Nov. 12, 1913 in Hiteman. The couple lived at Melbourne, Chelsea, Fredericka, Mt. Auburn, Rockwell and Hartwick, as Rev. Martin served as a minister. They lived in Dike for a time about 1915 and again for a number of years in the early 1930's. They moved to Linden, Ia. in 1948.

Mrs. Martin's husband preceded her in death, passing away just three weeks ago. His body was also brought to the Dike cemetery for burial.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Carrol (June) Wander of Gunsterville, Ala.; one grandson, one great-grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Bloemsma of California and Mrs. Ethel (John) Dolinich of Bridgeport, Conn.; and one brother, C. H. McKinder of Dike.
