Former Resident Dies In C. F.

Former resident Mrs. Julia A. Smith, 76, of 3100 Center St., North Cedar, Cedar Falls, died at Sartori hospital on Sunday, Oct. 17 of a malignancy.

She was born in Grundy Center Nov. 21, 1889 a daughter of Peter and Mary Jane Cox Knudsen. The family lived in the Lincoln township area. She at one time was a rural school teacher. She was married in 1929 to John A. Smith. They lived in Elma and Manchester prior to living in the North Cedar area where they operated Jack Grocery. Her husband passed away 10 years ago.

She is survived by one brother, J. J. Knudsen of Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at the St. Patrick's Church in Cedar Falls on Tuesday morning, Oct. 19. Burial was in Grundy Center.

Mr. and Mrs. Jake Alberts and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jacobsen, were among the Dike-Grundy Center friends attending the services. Mr. Alberts served as one of the pall bearers.
