Albert Algood died Monday evening at the Grundy hospital, where he had been a patient for 8 weeks. He had been in failing health for more than a year. He was 61 years old.
The body was taken to the Engelkes funeral home in Grundy Center where arrangements were made. Services will be at two o'clock Thursday afternoon at the funeral home. Burial will be in the cemetery at Holland. Because of the absence of Rev. Van Winkle, pastor of the Christian Reformed church in Holland, Rev. Gene Straatmeyer, pastor of the Colfax Center church, will officiate at the service.
Mr. Algood was born at Allenville, Ill., May 19, 1904. He came to Grundy county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Algood, while he was a small boy. The family located on a farm near Morrison, where Albert grew to manhood.
Albert Algood and Bertha Siefken were married in Grundy Center, Oct. 10, 1927. They resided a few years in the vicinity of Grundy Center and Holland, and six years at Sheffield. 26 years ago they moved to Holland, where he took over the Siefken blacksmith shop following his father-in-law's death. He erected a new building near the old shop in which he continued blacksmith and repair shop work, from which he was compelled to retire on account of failing health.
While a resident of Holland he took an active interest in his town and community and served for a time as mayor of Holland, a member of the town council, a member of the fire department, and as town marshal.
