M. E. Phillips Died At County Hospital

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Alice Church of God for M. E. Phillips, 95, who died late Sunday at the Grundy County Memorial hospital. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

A former resident of Newburg, he had been living at the Oakview Nursing Home. The Johnston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Phillips was born May 15, 1870, the son of Joel and Katie Newcomeber Phillips, in Newburg. He married Nora Richardson Jan. 4, 1893 and they moved to Conrad 48 years ago. She died in 1954.

He is survived by one son, Ralph, Conrad; and two grandchildren, Mrs. Leonard Klinefelter, Beaman, and Wendell Phillips, Wellman. Four great-grandchildren also survive.
