Mrs. H. E. Moffett Dies Suddenly At Eldora Home

Mrs. H. E. Moffett died at her home in Eldora late Tuesday afternoon, of heart failure. Her husband, who had been at his office, came home about five o'clock and found her body lying upon her bed. Evidently death had come to her within the hour. Mrs. Moffett had been under the care of a physician for some weeks, and had been advised by him of a heart ailment. She had however said nothing to her family about the trouble, seeking to keep them from anxiety concerning her condition. They did not suspect her illness until her unexpected death occurred.

Mrs. Moffett's immediate surviving family are: her husband, Howard E. Moffett, her son, John and his wife, of Eldora, and her daughter, Mrs. Josephine Hallin and her husband, of Minneapolis, and a grandson born to Mr. and Mrs. Hallin two weeks ago. She also has two brothers, Harold Sturgeon of Exira, Iowa, and Chalmers Sturgeon of San Diego, Calif.

Mrs. Moffett's death comes as a great shock to a wide circle of friends and acquaintances in Grundy Center, where she lived before moving to Eldora. As Miss Eleanor Sturgeon, she was principal of the Grundy Center high school, resigning that position at the time of her marriage in 1900 to Mr. Moffett, who later became editor and publisher of the Grundy County "Republican," and more recently of the Eldora "Herald."

Funeral services at the Andrle-Wehrman funeral home in Eldora at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial in Rose Hill cemetery, Grundy Center.
