Mrs. Ewaldt Died After Long Illness

Mrs. Mary Ewoldt died at her home in Reinbeck at 9:30 Tuesday night after an illness of nearly three years. Mrs. Ewoldt was first taken ill with hardening of the arteries and complications set in which have confined her to her bed for almost the past year.

Although very ill and known to be in a critical condition for several weeks, death came suddenly Tuesday night.

Mrs. Ewoldt whose maiden name was Meta Brandt, was born October 10, 1861, and was thus in her seventy-second year at death. She was married at Davenport, Iowa, to Hans Ewoldt and they came to a farm in Tama county to make their home. After a number of years in that vicinity they moved to a Grundy county farm which was their home for twenty-one years.

Fifteen years ago they moved to Reinbeck to make their home and here Mr. Ewoldt died June 10, 1920. Since that time Mrs. Ewoldt had maintained her home here, with her younger children.

She was the mother of twelve children, all of whom survive her. These are Mrs. Mathilda Brumm, Gladbrook; Mrs. Anna Harvey, Mrs. Theresa Ohrt, Long Beach, California; Mrs. W. F. Schmidt, Ellen Ewoldt, and Ernest Ewoldt, of Reinbeck; Henry Ewoldt, living in western Iowa; John Ewoldt, Green Mountain; Mrs. Leona Wrage, Marshalltown; Helene and Leonard Ewoldt, in the sanitarium at Oakdale, Iowa; and Mrs. Cecelia Nordenson of Minneapolis, Minn.

She is also survived by two sisters and one brother. These are Mrs. Lena Grill, Schleswig, Iowa; and Mrs. Etta Grill and John Brandt of Denison, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the Gange Funeral home. Rev. R. C. Hufstader, pastor of the Congregational church led the services. Burial was in the Reinbeck cemetery.
