Jackson Co. Woman Dies At Mother's Home While on Visit

Mrs. A. J. Bailey of Jackson county, Iowa, died at the home of her mother, Mrs. P. W. Bemis, at Morrison about midnight Tuesday night. She came here three weeks ago. She had been in poor health for several months. Last Friday she suffered a stroke of paralysis from which she was not able to recover. She was 58 years old.

Funeral services will be held at Morrison Thursday afternoon. Burial will be in the Morrison cemetery.

Mrs. Bailey's husband died at Wenner, S.D., last June and he was buried there.

Surviving are three sons, one daughter, the mother and two brothers, Ed and Ben Beckwith of Morrison.

Obituary Mrs. Susie Bailey

Mrs. Susan Charlotte Beckwith Bailey was born in Okie, Wis., Sept. 30, 1875, and died at her mother's home, Mrs. P. W. Bemis, Aug. 15, 1933, aged 57 years, 10 months and 15 days.

She spent the early part of her life in Wisconsin and after moved with her parents to Preston, Iowa, later moving to Superior, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to Albert J. Bailey. There they lived for 10 years, and then moved with their family to South Dakota, where she spent the remainder of her life, coming to Morrison to visit her mother and brothers, Ben and Ed Beckwith.

She was preceded in death by her father and husband, her husband passing away several months ago.

She leaves beside her aged mother and two brothers, 3 sons and one daughter: John A. Bailey of Grand Forks, N.D.; Clifford E. Bailey, Winner, S. Dak.; Max V. Bailey, Witten, S.D. and Ruth E. Bailey of Winner, So. Dak.

Funeral services were held at the Bemis home Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Bird of the Grundy Center Methodist church. Interment was in the cemetery south of Morrison in the Beckwith lot beside the body of her father.
