Al Reynolds Is Dead; Resided In County 70 Years

Born In Grundy County Second Year Of the Civil War and Resided Here Continually Ever Since

Alfred B. Reynolds, who was born in Grundy county 70 years ago and who made his home here continually died at his late home in Conrad last Saturday, April 23, at the age of 70 years, two months and 28 days.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. C. K. Hudson were held at Conrad Tuesday. Burial was in the Conrad cemetery.

Mr. Reynolds was united in marriage with Agnes Newell of Grundy Center in 1884. There were born to them two children: Miss Mae Reynolds of Des Moines and Walter Reynolds of Conrad.

Mr. Reynolds' life was spent in Grundy county. He was one of its best known farmers until 1905 when he, with his family, moved to Conrad which has been his home since that time.

After moving to Conrad he was engaged in buying and selling live stock. About five years ago failing health caused him to give up his active life.

Mr. Reynolds, better known as Al, was of a quiet, unassuming disposition. He was successful in business, and highly respected by all who knew him. On the 2nd of April he suffered a stroke of paralysis. He grew steadily weaker until Saturday, April 23, at 1:30 when he passed peacefully to the great beyond. He died as he had lived, quiet, uncomplaining, willing, facing the crisis as a man ready and unafraid. By his going this community suffers the loss of one of its useful and worthy citizens. He will long be remembered by many friends.

He is survived by his wife, two children, Miss Mae Reynolds of Des Moines and Walter of Conrad; two grandchildren, Eileen and Junior Reynolds of Conrad; one brother, Almer Reynolds of Redlands, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Whiting, Eldora, Mrs. Essie Fergeson of Swaledale, Iowa, and Mrs. Anna Jones of Seattle, Washington.
