Death of Mrs. Haxton

Lulu A. Crosser, daughter of Robert and Rosa Crosser, was born at New Providence, Iowa, Oct. 4, 1873. When a babe of 6 months her mother died, so she was reared by her grandmother, Ms. Harriet Long.

As a child she was baptized in the Methodist church. Jan. 27, 1892, she was united in marriage with Alburtus S. Haxton, in which union two children were born, Vernon R. of Kirkwood, Mo., and Mrs. Fern R. Dunn of Union, Iowa. Mrs. Haxton for many years was a resident of Felix township, Grundy county, and lived her entire life in the vicinity of Whitten, except the last year when she moved with her husband to Bangor, Iowa.

Mrs. Haxton was a home loving woman, a kind mother and a devoted wife. In life she was afflicted with much illness which she bore patiently, always forgetting self in preference to others.

Her late illness was of short duration. On the morning of April 7 she quietly passed to that great beyond from whence none have ever returned, at the age of 58 years, 6 months and 3 days. Those who mourn her parting are her bereaved husband, one son and one daughter, 4 great-grandchildren, 8 half-brothers and sisters, other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral services were held Saturday, April 9th, at the Whitten Methodist church at 2:30 p.m., in charge of the pastor, Rev. F. C. Griewe. Burial was in the Benson cemetery.
