Stroke Brings Death Friday To Claus Weseman

Claus Weseman died at his home in Lincoln township at ten o'clock Friday morning. He passed through a siege of the flu early in the year and later pneumonia developed. For several weeks he appeared to be regaining his former strength gradually. On Sunday before his death he suffered a stroke, from which due to his weakened physical condition he was unable to recover.

Funeral services were held Monday at the First German Presbyterian church in Grundy Center. Dr. K. J. Stratemeier preached in the English and the German languages and took his texts from Psalm 90:12 and Amos 4:12. Mrs. Wm. Kruse and Mrs. Henry Dirks Jr. rendered several comforting selections. There was a very large attendance at the church services. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mr. Weseman was born in Ogle county, Ill., on June 15th, 1886. He was 45 years, 9 months and 23 days old at the time of his death. He came to Grundy county with his parents in 1889 and resided here continually since that time. On February 8th, 1913, he was united in marriage to Miss Edith Hostettler.

Surviving relatives are the wife, his daughter Ellen, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Weseman of Grundy Center, three sisters, Mrs. Wm. Noel, Dena Weseman and Mrs. H. O. Dirks, three brothers, Okke, Frank and Simon, and other most distance relatives and a host of friends.
