Mrs. Albert Tjepkes Dies From Paralytic Strokes

Mrs. Albert Tjepkes died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Marks, Monday night after having suffered several strokes the past few months. She was 78 years old. Her husband preceded her in death a number of years ago. She has been making her home with the daughter for the past seven months.

Surviving are three sons, Martin of Stewartville, Minn., Henry of Parkersburg, and George of Dike and two daughters, Mrs. John Marks of New Hartford and Mrs. Oltman Oltman of Woodward.

She had made her home in Lincoln township during the later years of her life. Funeral services will be held in the German Reformed church at Stout Friday afternoon with burial in the Lincoln Center cemetery. Rev. Siemsen will officiate at the service and will be assisted by a Parkersburg pastor.

Mrs. Tjepkes' Funeral Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Albert Tjepkes were held Friday afternoon at the Stout Christian Reformed church, Rev. D. Siemsen officiating, assisted by Rev. John Schaefer. Burial was in the cemetery of the Lincoln Center Christian Reformed church.

Henderika Tjepkes, nee Reck, was born April 28, 1853, at Bunde, Ostfriesland, Germany. She was married to Albert Tjepkes, April 15, 1878. They came to America in 1881 and settled on a farm in Beaver township, Grundy county, where they made their home until the death of her husband. After his death she came to Parkersburg, which had since been her home.

Of the six children born to her, four survive, Mrs. Oltman Oltman, Mrs. Johann Marks, Stout, George Tjepkes, Dike, and Henry Tjepkes, Parkersburg. There are also sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
