Rites Held For Helen Temple

Helen Temple, 86, of Grundy Center, passed away Thursday, December 28, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center on Saturday, December 30, at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Calvin Vanderwerf officiated.

Mrs. Gloria Willms sang "Take My Hand Precious Lord" and "How Great Thou Art." She was accompanied by Mrs. Marcia Heronimus, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Edward Flater and Eugene Meester were ushers.

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Helen Temple, daughter of John and Dena Snitjer Siefken, was born June 9, 1903, in Grundy county, where she grew up and was educated.

On June 11, 1927, Helen was united in marriage to Everett Temple at the Colfax Center parsonage in rural Holland. Helen and Everett moved to Brookings-Madison areas where they farmed for 13 years. They returned to Grundy Center in 1943.

Helen was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and of the United Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She loved children and enjoyed babysitting throughout the years.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Everett; her parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Doug (Doris) Arends, of Grundy Center; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert Siefken, of Cedar Rapids.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
