Dies At Iowa Falls Hospital

Dietrick Berends a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Berends living north of Wellsburg died at the hospital at Iowa Falls at 3:30 Thursday morning. He was operated on 3 times for appendicitis and death came two weeks after the last operation. The remains of the young man were sent to Wellsburg Thursday afternoon and from here they were taken to the Berends home in Pleasant Valley township. Funeral services were held at the Rev. Mueller church in German twp. Monday and interment was made in the cemetery adjoining this church.

Dietrich Berends was 18 years and 8 months old at the time of his death. He was born in this county and all of his life he has spent here. He is survived by his father and mother, one sister and two brothers. The Berends family have the sympathy of all who know them in their great bereavement.

At the funeral services Monday the attendance was so large that many who wished to attend were unable to get into the church.
