Julie A. Oetker, 57, of Grundy Center, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, IA while under the care of Unity Point Hospice. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 21275 U Ave., Reinbeck, IA. Burial will follow the service at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, IA. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to family.

Julie Ann was born June 22, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Caryl (Batchelder) Smith. Julie was raised and spent most of her childhood in the Cedar Rapids area. Julie graduated from high school in 1975. Julie was united in marriage to LeRoy Oetker on October 30, 1976 in Cedar Rapids, IA. They moved to the Grundy Center area after their marriage. Julie loved to spend time with her family especially her granddaughters. Julie enjoyed flowers, working on crafts, and sewing. She also loved her pets.

She is survived by her husband, LeRoy, of Grundy Center; parents, Thomas and Caryl Smith of Grundy Center; children, Thomas Oetker and his wife, Tressa, of Grundy Center, Jeffery Oetker and his significant other, Carly Heindselman, of Grundy Center and Christopher Oetker of Cedar Rapids; siblings: Timothy Smith of Hastings MN; grandchildren: Alyssa and Sophie Oetker of Grundy Center and Lorelei Oetker of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Melody Butzin and nephew, Alex Butzin.
