Paul A. Buchan, 68, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Sunday, December 11, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 15, 2005, at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa, with Pastor Kent Leydens officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home on Thursday morning. Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa, is serving the family of Paul A. Buchan. A memorial fund has been established.

Paul Alvin Buchan was born September 25, 1937, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of George A. and Tillie (Thoren) Buchan. Paul received his education in Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1955. After high school, Paul became employed at J.E. Millets in Waterloo, working as a machinist. He worked there for forty-five years, retiring in 1999. Paul was a lifelong Waterloo resident. Paul was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. He loved watching old movies and listening to country music.

He is survived by two sisters Norma Jacobson and her husband Don of Waterloo, Iowa; Kay Van Horn of West Union, Iowa; four brothers Vernon Buchan and his wife Janet of Waterloo, Iowa; Ronald Buchan and his wife Karen of Waterloo, Iowa; Jerry Buchan and his wife Judy of Waterloo, Iowa; Larry Buchan and his wife Judy of Waterloo, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Tillie Buchan; one sister LaVonne Messersmith; and three brothers George Jr., Dean and Ray Buchan.
