Mrs. J. H. Dieken Dead At Home In Lincoln Twp.

Blood Clot Developed Following Appendicitis Operation

Mrs. J. H. Dieken died at her home in Lincoln township about five o'clock yesterday afternoon. On August 19th she submitted to an operation for appendicitis at the Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo. She returned to her home two weeks ago yesterday. A blood clot developed after she returned to her home and her condition continued to become more serious daily until the end came.

Mrs. Dieken was a daughter of the late Elso Groote. She was born in Colfax township 40 years ago and made her home in this county continually. She was married to J. H. Dieken in June, 1901. Immediately following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Dieken made their home on their farm in Lincoln township, where they have lived continually.

Mrs. Dieken is survived by her husband, seven children, two brothers and two sisters. The children are Ella, who is engaged in missionary work in China, Hiram, who is attending college at Dubuque, Annie, Elmer LaVerne, Glenn and Irwin who are at home. The brothers are Elso Groote of Grundy Center and Harm Groote of Colfax township. The sisters are Mrs. Wm. VanDeest of Lincoln township and Mrs. J. M. Meyer of Wellsburg.

Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church in Colfax township at two o'clock Saturday. The service at the home will be at one o'clock. Rev. J. E. Drake, who was the deceased's pastor for thirty years, will conduct the funeral services.
