Lot Wm. Saint was born Nov. 5, 1850, near Mt. Pleasant, Henry county, Iowa. As a small child he came with his parents to Hardin county, living in the vicinity of Whitten all his life.

On October 8th, 1875, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Alice Long who preceded him in death Feb. 11th, 1908. To this union six children were born, two sons preceding him in infancy.

The illness of Mr. Saint was of short duration, passing away April 28th, 1930, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and two days.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ara Long, three sons, George of the state of New York, Ernie and Harry of Whitten, and one daughter, Mrs. Maud Humphrey of Marshalltown, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

The funeral was held from the M.E. church Wednesday, April 30th at 2 p.m. Interment at the Benson cemetery. Those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hickman and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hickman, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Moore and daughter, Bernice, Mrs. Elwyn Gould, Mr. Clarence Long, all of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. John Humphreys, also of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sr., John, Gertrude and Irene Long of Eldora, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Long of Eldora, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Long of Owasa, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Cleveland of Eagle Grove, Iowa.
