Death of Mrs. Peter Klontz
Mrs. Peter Klontz died at her home in Grundy Center at eight o'clock last Saturday evening. She suffered a stroke of paralysis on Thursday and from that time she continued to get weaker until the end came.
Mary Agatha Weaver was born June 7th, 1863. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Weaver, who resided on a farm not far from Maysville, Kentucky. At the age of nine she entered the school for the blind at Louisville, where she was a pupil eleven years.
She came to Iowa in 1894 and spent several years at the Christian Home in Council Bluffs and the Home for the Blind in Knoxville. She was married to Peter Klontz on August 30th, 1899, and has since made her home in Grundy Center. Two children were born to her, the eldest, Effie, dying when only nine days old.
She confessed her faith in her Savior at the age of twelve, and became a member of the Christian Church in her community. She later transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church in Grundy Center.
The funeral service was conducted at the home at 2 p.m. Monday. J. H. Sperry read the Scripture and lead in prayer. Rev. R. B. Fisher, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, read the obituary and made brief, appropriate remarks. Burial was at the Grundy Center cemetery.
