Niels Anderson Dies
Niels Anderson, for 57 years a resident of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday afternoon at his residence at 1114 Bluff street from complications incident to age. He was 79 years old and a native of Denmark, coming from that country to the United States when he was 22 years old. He was a farmer until age forced his retirement, since then he had made his home in Cedar Falls.
He spent a short time in Ohio after coming to this country from Uuggerlose, Denmark, where he was born April 5, 1850.
He married Miss Anne Marie Larsen in 1875. She died about one year later. His second marriage on Nov. 16, 1878, was to Miss Anna Hansen, the ceremony being read here by the Rev. A. S. N. Nielsen, pastor of the newly organized Nazareth Lutheran church, which then occupied the site of the present parsonage on Bluff street. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were among the first to join the new church and have remained members since. Their golden wedding was celebrated with a parish reception last fall.
Surviving are the widow, five daughters and two sons: Mrs. James Hansen, Mrs. Minnie Nielsen, Mrs. Sena Byggere, and Mrs. Charles Stokes, all of Cedar Falls; Mrs. George Nielsen, Eugene, Ore.; Albert, Spirit Lake, and Alfred, Royal.
