George, the six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. George Arends, Sr., died at the hospital at Cedar Falls last Saturday from spinal meningitis. The little fellow was taken sick last Thursday and he was taken to the hospital at once. He never regained consciousness from the time he entered the hospital. The boy was buried in the Stout cemetery on Tuesday. A brief service attended by relatives was held at the grave. This makes the second death in this family from this terrible disease. Martin, an eleven-year-old boy, died two weeks before. The family have the undivided sympathy of everyone who knows them in their heavy affliction. The eight-year-old daughter of Frank Behrends, who has been making her home with the Arends family, became a victim last Saturday of the same trouble. She was taken to the hospital at once. Her condition has been very critical and it was not believed by the attending physicians that she could recover. A report from the hospital yesterday offered a little encouragement and there may be a possibility that she may get well.
