Obituary of Almon Goodell

Almon Goodell was born in Grundy Center, Iowa, Oct. 27, 1890, and passed away at Los Angeles, Calif., Dec. 9, 1928, after a brief illness followed by a surgical operation, aged 38 years, 1 month and 12 days.

For a few years in early childhood he lived with his parents in Cedar Rapids, returning to Grundy Center where he spent his school days, graduating in the high school class of 1910. With the exception of three years, he resided in Grundy Center until 1924, when he moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where he became sales manager for the Giant Furnace Heating Co., of that city.

He was united in marriage to Miss Naomi Springer on May 5, 1919. Beside the young widow, he leaves to mourn his death an aged grandmother, Mrs. Mary Robins, a mother, Mrs. Chester Goodell, one brother, Bert Goodell, and one sister, Mrs. W. J. Dickenson, all of Grundy Center.

Mr. Goodell united with the M.E. church in early life, and was a member of that church at the time of his death. It is a source of real comfort to the family and friends that the earthly remains of this son and brother could be brought from the distant home back here to the home of his childhood to be laid to rest among those who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home of the mother, Rev. F. O. Winslow, pastor of the local M.E. church, officiating. Interment was in the family lot in the Grundy Center cemetery.
