Wumkes Child Dies

Ivan Eugene Wumkes, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wumkes, was born Nov. 19, 1928, and his little life record closed Wednesday, March 26, 1930, at 3 p.m. The little boy had been sick for a considerable time, first with influenza, then measles, pneumonia and other complications. He was known to be a very sick boy when he was taken to Sartori Memorial hospital in Cedar Falls Friday, March 21, where everything that doctors and two special nurses could do was done, but death won.

He received the sacrament of baptism June 16, 1929. He had just reached the cute age, beginning to talk and run about the house, and will be greatly missed from the home.

He leaves behind him to mourn his going his father and mother, Ernest and Anna Wumkes, four brothers, Wilbur, Delmar, Junior and John, and a sister, Irma. There are also other near relatives: one grandfather, two grandmothers, seven uncles and seven aunts.

After a very short service at the home, the funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in the Methodist church in Dike, in charge of Rev. C. W. Batten. Interment was in the Dike cemetery.

Kind neighbors did everything they could to help, both during the anxious days of desperate sickness and the most trying hours since little Ivan was carried home to the arms of Jesus. Their many friends join in the most sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.

"He thought your goodnight kiss was given,
And like a lily his life did close;
Angels uncurtained that repose,
And the next waking dawned in Heaven."
--Massey
