Harriet Tjepkes Dies at Hospital

Harriet Tjepkes, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Tjepkes, died at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown last Saturday afternoon. The little girl had not fully recovered from a siege of the measles when sinus trouble developed and she was taken to the hospital where an operation was performed. There were six blood transfusions following the operation, but they brought very little relief.

Harriet would have been nine years old the coming July. Aside from her father and mother, she is survived by one brother and two sisters. This makes the fifth child in the Tjepkes family who has been taken.

Funeral services were held at the church in Lincoln Center with the local pastor, Rev. Gerdes, officiating. Burial was by the side of the brothers and sisters in the cemetery adjoining the church.
