George Claassen, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Claassen, of this city, was born May 24, 1894, at Campen, Eastfriesland, Germany. In 1904, then a boy of twelve years of age, he accompanied his parents to America, residing with them first in Illinois and later in Iowa.

While working in Dubuque the last few weeks of his life, he was suddenly taken sick and in a short time succumbed to the attack. He died Saturday, May 19, 1928, at the age of 35 years, 11 months and 25 days. He leaves to mourn his early departure his parents, one sister, Mrs. J. Mueller, one brother, Rudolf, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon with services at the house and at the grave, Rev. K. J. Stratemeier officiating. Interment was made in the Grundy Center cemetery.
