Reinbeck's Oldest Citizen Called
Mrs. William Horstman, Reinbeck's oldest citizen, died Sunday morning, May 20th, 1928, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris Ramundt, in her ninety-second year.
Mrs. Hortsman had enjoyed the best of health, not having been sick in bed over two or three days in many years. She had little trouble with her eyes and still knitted and sewed till within a week of her death. She also kept up with the topics of the day in the daily papers.
Mrs. Horstman was born in Backhoist, Schleswig, Germany, Dec. 13, 1836, and was 45 and mother of a large family before she came to this country with her husband. Leading the fettered life of a busy housewife, she never acquired proficient use of the English language but had a great many friends in Reinbeck who conversed with her.
Her husband and two children preceded her. Five children survive: August, Ernest and Mrs. Minnie Ramundt, Reinbeck; Mrs. Ida Johns, Sutherland, Ia., and Mrs. Dora Ehrig, Waterloo.
