Funeral Monday For Ernest Hook Former Resident

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian church at Reinbeck for Ernest H. Hook, 78, who died Thursday at the Schoitz Memorial hospital at Waterloo following a stroke which he suffered earlier in the week. Interment was made in the cemetery at Reinbeck.

Mr. Hook was born on August 11, 1886 at Holland in Grundy county. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hook. He was united in marriage to Miss Alice Tjabring. The couple made their home on a farm north of Wellsburg and later they also resided on a farm south of Wellsburg. The also lived at Lincoln before moving to Reinbeck.

Those who survive are three daughters: Mrs. Waldo Cook of Waterloo, Mrs. Mike Watson of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Dale Mast of Dubuque, two sons, Franklin of Waterloo and Arthur of Iowa Falls. Three brothers who survive are Herman of Parkersburg, a twin brother, Henry of Wellsburg, and Rudolph of Austin, Minn., also two sisters, Mrs. Charles Ackerman of LaPorte City and Mrs. Grace Arends of Cedar Falls.

Preceding the deceased in death were his parents, a twin son and daughter in infancy, one other son, two brothers, Barney and Con Hook, a sister, Mrs. Ben DeVries, and his wife.

Funeral Monday For Ernest Hook Former Resident

Ernest Hook from Reinbeck, well known over the county, died at Schoitz hospital in Waterloo last Thursday. The body was taken to the French funeral home in Reinbeck, where arrangements for funeral services were made. He was 77 years old.

Funeral services were at the United Presbyterian church at Reinbeck at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. A prayer service was held at the funeral home at 1:30. Burial was in the Reinbeck cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, a daughter, his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Waldo Cook, Waterloo; Mrs. Mike Watson, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Dale Mast, Dubuque; two sons, Franklin, Waterloo; Arthur, Iowa Falls; three brothers, Herman of Parkersburg; Henry, Wellsburg; Rudolph, Austin, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Ackerman, LaPorte City; Mrs. Grace Arends, Cedar Falls.
