S. O. Larson, Conrad, Dead

Sivain Oscar Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis M. Larson, was born in Mesurhulte Parish, Calmar county, Sweden, Aug. 27, 1857. He came to the United States with his parents when 12 years old in 1869 and they settled in Webster county, where he grew to manhood.

In 1878 he moved to LaMoille with his brother, Louis M. Larson, where he was in business till 1891.

He was united in marriage to Miss Almedia Holladay Aug. 11, 1883, and to this union were born seven children, three of whom died in infancy.

In 1895 he came to Conrad with his family and established a permanent residence and set up in business, and he has continued in the blacksmith and general repair shop business since that time. He became widely known thru-out Grundy and adjoining counties for his ability as a workman and in addition for his ability along poetic and literary lines. His familiar rhymes brought him wide fame and reputation along literary lines.

He died at his home in Conrad Saturday night at the age of 71 years. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife and three sons, Dewey and Kenneth of Conrad, and Paul of St. Louis; one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Fagg, of Conrad; a brother, Louis M., of LaMoille; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Anderson and Mrs. C. J. E. Johnson of Stratford. With his departure another of the pioneer business men has gone, he having been a resident of Iowa for nearly sixty years, highly honored and respected and will be mourned by a large circle of friends as well as relatives. Funeral services were held from the home in Conrad Tuesday afternoon, Rev. O. Sandbach, pastor of the M.E. church, officiating, and he was laid to rest in the Conrad cemetery.
