Was Resident Of County Many Years

Passed Away Early Monday Morning of This Week

"Or ever the silver cord be loosed,
Or the golden bowl be broken,
Or the pitcher be broken at the fountain,
Or the wheel be broken at the cistern."

Cyrus Wesley Meyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Meyers, was born in Somerset county, Pa., Oct. 10, 1866. At the time of his death he was 61 years, 3 months and 20 days of age.

He came with his parents to Marshall county, Iowa. In 1876, a few years later, they came to Grundy county where he has since resided. In 1890 he and his three brothers, H. H., T. H. and J. H., purchased the Morris farm, four miles south of Grundy Center, where he has since been interested in farming.

In the fall of 1926 his health failed and he gradually gave up his accustomed work. In May he suffered a light stroke and was confined to his bed for several weeks. He was taken to Marshalltown to the hospital for treatment, but was not benefited as was hoped for and was brought back to his brother's home, where after several weeks he recovered his strength enough to be able to attend to his farming interests. In October he contracted a severe cold and was confined to his bed most of the time since.

All that medical aid and loving care of brothers and sisters could do for his comfort and recovery was given.

He leaves five brothers, Harvey, Tobias and Joe, of Grundy Center; Elias, of Plainfield; Sam, of Whitten; four sisters, Lydia Lewis and Ida Freed, of Eldora; Mrs. Mary Vinton, St. Cloud, Minn.; Mrs. Amanda Callaway, Whitten.

Singing was by a quartet consisting of Galen Albright, Glenn Sheller, R. W. Button and B. W. Albright.

The pall bearers were: Hugh Meyers, Harvey Meyers, George Meyers, Forrest Meyers, Roy Shipton, Earl Wagoner.

The flowers were in charge of Raena Shipton, Doris Shipton, Mrs. Hugh Meyers and Mrs. Harvey Meyers.

The following relatives were present from a distance: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Small, Mrs. Sadie Bueghley, Mrs. Cora Bixby, a representative of the Jennings scholars, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Weatherly, of Liscomb; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shipton and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Herron, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Moeller, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. John Lynch, Mr. and Mrs. John Shipton, Charley Lynch, of Green Mountain; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Freed, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Freed; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Vinton, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. George Freed, Mr. and Mrs. Will Lewis, of Eldora; Alva Price and Mr. and Mrs. Charley Callaway and family, of Whitten; Mr. and Mrs. Elias Meyers, Nashua; Russell Meyers, Waterloo.
