Hei DeBoer Died Tuesday

Hei DeBoer died early Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Barney Hook, in Pleasant Valley township. Mr. DeBoer had been under the doctor's care for about a week before his death. He reached the age of 74, and had been a resident of that locality for a long time.

Heie DeBuhr was born June 1, 1852, at Nortmor Amt, Leer, Ostfriesland. As a young man he emigrated to this country and was a resident of Grundy county for more than fifty years.

He was united in marriage on Aug. 22, 1874, to Gesina Ludeman. This union was blessed with seven children, two sons and five daughters. One son and two daughters preceded him in death. They were Sander, who died in infancy, Mrs. Etta Thoren and Mrs. Susan Hook. His life companion died in September, 1916.

He died after a short illness at the home of his youngest daughter, Mrs. Barney Hook, where he had been making his home the last four years, on August 2, 1927, at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 1 day.

He leaves to mourn his departure his son, Harm; his daughters, Mrs. W. Tellinghuisen, White, S.D.; Mrs. Jake Riekens, Mrs. Barney Hook, of this county, twenty-four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Friday from his late home, in charge of his pastor, Rev. Deuschle, assisted by Rev. Yingst of Abbott.

Those who attended from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Tellinghuisen, of White, So. Dak.; Rudolph Hook and daughters, of Waltham, Minn.; Rev. and Mrs. C. H. Hook, of St. Paul; Mrs. Sander Ludeman and R. A. Ludeman, of Mason City; and Mrs. Geo. Ludeman, of Cedar Falls.

John VanHeiden, B. M. Meinder, Martin Kruse, George Seitsema, W. K. Harken and P. Kneppe acted as pall bearers.
