Death of Mrs. Henry DeVoogd

Mrs. Henry DeVoogd passed away very suddenly early Monday morning at a hospital in Marshalltown following an operation for abscess in the throat.

She was taken to the hospital on Wednesday evening of last week for treatment for nervous trouble and the operation followed. The direct cause of her death was a blood clot on the brain.

Minnie VanDeest was born Jan. 7, 1904, in Beaman. She had lived in Grundy Center and vicinity all her life. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Gertie VanDeest; two children, Grace Elizabeth, 6; and Harold Edward, 2, all of Grundy Center; a brother, Jasper VanDeest, of Beaman, and four sisters, Mrs. Albert Kaufman, of Green Mountain; Mrs. Dick Vry, of Beaman; Mrs. Rank Kaput, of Lyle, Minn., and Mrs. Will Weise, of Charles City.

Funeral services were held from the home of her brother, Jasper VanDeest, five miles north of Beaman, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Mr. Sinning in charge. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.
