He Was 83 Years of Age
Came to Wellsburg 28 Years Ago and Operated Only Hotel in Town
C. J. Eells died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. H. Heddens, in Wellsburg about midnight last night. Death came to him on his 83rd birthday. Due to his advanced age his health had been failing gradually for several months and he was fading away daily. Death came last night with very little warning.
Arrangements for the funeral services have not been completed, though it is likely they will be held Saturday afternoon. Interment will be made by the side of the wife in the Grundy Center cemetery.
Mr. Eells was born in Batavia, New York. He came to Burlington when he was a young man. He made that his home until twenty-eight years ago when he moved with his family to Wellsburg. He was engaged in the hotel business for many years until he retired from business. His wife died three years ago. Since that time he made his home with his daughter in Wellsburg.
The immediate surviving relatives are two sons, Harry Eells, who lives in New York and O. B. Eells, of Grundy Center. Mrs. C. H. Heddens is the only daughter.
