Death of H. B. Lindaman

H. B. Lindeman died at his home in Aplington last Wednesday morning, January 25th, from hardening of the arteries. He had been failing gradually during the past six months and was compelled to remain in bed the last two weeks of his lifetime. When the end came he was but a shadow of his former vigorous self.

Funeral services were held at the home last Saturday and later at the Deuschle church in German township where interment was made in the family lot in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mr. Lindeman was very widely known in the northwest portion of Grundy county and in the town of Aplington. Nearly all of his active lifetime was spent on a farm in German township.

Mr. Lindeman was 68 years old. He was born in Germany and came to this country with his parents when he was two years old. The parents for a number of years lived near Shannon, Ill. In 1866 when H. B. was but six years old the family moved to Grundy county. That was 62 years ago, and all excepting one of that family group still living continue to reside here. Mr. Lindeman owned a large farm in German township where all of his children were born. His first wife died in 1904. Ten years later he was married a second time. This wife is still living. Following the second marriage Mr. Lindeman retired from the farm to a comfortable home at Aplington. There are nine children from the first marriage; eight of these are still living. The surviving children are Mrs. Fred Spieker, Mrs. Richard Tack, of this county; Mrs. George Tjaden, of White, S.D.; Mrs. Miner Niehaus of this county; Mrs. Ben Reemstma of Garner; H. H. of Aplington and A. of Jefferson. Mr. Lindeman has four surviving brothers, John of Aplington, Henricus and William of Wellsburg, and B. B. of Aplington.

There was a very large attendance of relatives and old friends at the church funeral service.
