Burial Service for James Tracy Friday

Committal service for James Tracy, 75, former Grundy Center man, who died April 4, at Atkinson, Nebr., was held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 6, with Rev. Merton Green in charge. Burial was by the side of the deceased wife in the Grundy Center cemetery.

James A. Tracy was born in Grundy Center April 26, 1876, the son of Lorenzo Dow Tracy and Mary Jane Clark. He lived in Iowa throughout his youth and early manhood. In October, 1899, he married Leola Ryan at Lake Geneva, Wis. She died in May, 1940.

In January of 1919 the Tracys moved to Atkinson, Nebr., where for many years Mr. Tracy operated a dairy and for 13 years was employed as janitor of the Atkinson public school. He was a former member of the Atkinson city council, a member of the Modern Woodmen and a member of the Methodist church, serving for many years on the official church board.

Funeral rites were held Thursday at the Methodist church in Atkinson.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, George and Lucille Tracy, Atkinson, Nebr., two grandchildren, Marion Tracy, Myssa, Ore., and Mary Jane West, Burwell, Nebr., six great-grandchildren and several cousins.
