Mrs. Bartholomew Dies Monday At Her Conrad Home
Mrs. J. W. Bartholomew died Monday evening at her home in Conrad after a long illness. She would have been 78 years old had she lived until next May.
Mrs. Bartholomew was born in Mt. Carroll, Ill., May 17, 1873. She came to Grundy county with her parents when she was a small child. With the exception of three years that she lived in Minnesota the rest of her life was spent in Grundy county. She lived in Conrad and vicinity during her residence in Grundy county excepting for a few years when she and her husband lived on a farm in Lincoln township.
Mr. and Mrs. Bartholomew were married Dec. 25, 1894. They began housekeeping on the Rock Hill farm south of Conrad where they lived a few years. Later they purchased a farm in Felix township three miles northwest of Conrad where they resided many years and where their children grew up. Mr. Bartholomew died in 1945. His wife has resided in Conrad since that time.
Surviving are three sons, Floyd Bartholomew, Conrad; Glen, Clemons, and Wayne, Eldora; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two sisters and three brothers also survive. They are Mrs. Herbert Thomas, Whitten; Mrs. Earl Minard and John Koehler, Conrad; Fred Koehler, Marshalltown, and Charles, Hampton.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Conrad Methodist church with Rev. W. G. Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Conrad cemetery.
