Marion Dew Buried At Beaman

Marion Dew, son of William and Lavina Dew, was born Nov. 11, 1881 in Marshall county, Iowa near Green Mountain.

While he was still a small boy his family moved to Beaman, where he grew to manhood.

Occupation during early part of his life was farming with his brother, Clyde.

On June 10, 1903 he was united in marriage to Mattie J. Starkey. Three children were born of this union. George, deceased, Thurman of Sioux City, and Catherine of Beaman.

Mattie died May 2, 1913, leaving two sons and infant daughter.

On Jan. 7, 1914 he and Bertha M. Garris of Woodburn were married.

In 1921 they purchased a farm near Hawkeye in Fayette county and lived there till 1928 when they moved to Creston where he built and operated a filling station.

Bertha passed away June 2, 1942.

Marion continued to run the station and maintain his home here.

He and Mrs. Nettie Goodwin of Omaha were united in marriage Dec. 24, 1944.

They continued to reside in Creston and take care of his business until he was taken ill Feb. 4, and passed away on Feb. 6, 1951.

He leaves to mourn his passing, many friends, his wife Nettie, a son Thurman, a daughter, Catherine Gross, son-in-law Sydney, three grandchildren, George, Jvonne and Arleen Gross. Three brothers, Clyde of Artonville, Minn., Bob, Browns City, Mo., and Bert of Kansas City, Mo.; also a number of nieces and nephews.

He was laid to rest in the Oakland cemetery at Beaman, Friday.
