Mrs. Hilko Bleeker Dies Monday Night

Mrs. Hilko Bleeker died at her home west of Wellsburg Monday night following a heart ailment and complications. She had been in failing health for some time. She was 79 years old.

Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Reformed church west of Wellsburg Thursday afternoon. Burial will be in the family lot in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mrs. Bleeker was born April 4, 1872, in Shiloh township and she resided there all of her life. Her maiden name was Ettje Mennenga. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mennenga, among the early residents of Shiloh township.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter. A more complete history of Mrs. Bleeker's life will appear in the next issue of The Register.

Large Attendance At Brother and Sister Rites

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed church last Thursday for Obbo Mennenga and Mrs. Hilko Bleeker, brother and sister, who died within a few hours of each other. Both had been members of the Christian Reformed church during their lifetime and they were buried in the cemetery adjoining the church. Rev. Joseph VandeKieft conducted the services.

Obituary of Mrs. Bleeker
Mrs. Hilko Bleeker was born April 4, 1872, in Grundy county. She died Jan. 8, 1951, at the age of 78 years, 9 months, 4 days. Her maiden name was Ettje Mennenga. Her parents were Jans Mennenga and Johanna Isebrands Mennenga. Into this home were born two sons and three daughters.

On March 30, 1898, Mrs. Bleeker was united in marriage with Hilko Bleeker. Her husband was taken from her side by death on June 28, 1920. To this union were born five children, of whom two died in early youth and three survive.

Mrs. Mennenga spent her life in the vicinity of Wellsburg and Steamboat Rock.

Preceding her in death were one son Evert and one daughter Johanna; also one brother, John Mennenga, and one sister, Mrs. John Rah. Following her in death by a few hours, the other brother, Obbo Mennenga.

Surviving are three children: John of Belmond and Evert and Anna at home; one sister, Mrs. Hemmo Luppen, Wellsburg; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
