Ackley Child Dies From Burns At Home

Carol Ann Abbas, 3 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Abbas, living five miles east of Ackley, died about 6 o'clock Sunday evening in the Allen Memorial hospital from burns suffered shortly before at the family home.

The parents were milking in the barn. The child who was in the house alone, in some unknown manner got her clothes on fire. She ran out to the barn and the parents extinguished the fire. But the child had been dangerously burned and she was rushed to the hospital where she died a little later. Surviving besides the parents, are a sister, Barbara, a brother, Eugene, her grandmother, Mrs. Bert Abbas and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Lewis.
