Dike Man Dies In His Car

Peter Pruin from Dike died in his car about 1:30 Saturday afternoon while he was on his way home from Mason City. He and his brother Luke had gone to Mason City to see their brother Will, who is a patient in the hospital there. Peter Pruin was driving his own car. He felt the attack coming on and was able to stop the car. He died in the car before a doctor could reach him.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Dike on Tuesday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. Lyman Church from Sheffield. Burial was in the Dike Cemetery.

Mr. Pruin was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pruin. He was born at Pomeroy, Iowa, on January 3rd, 1896. On October 28th, 1924, he and Grace Bulthuis were married. They began farming near Stout. They continued farming until 1937 when they moved to Dike. Lately he had been driving a Dike creamery truck.

Surviving are the wife, two daughters, Mrs. Ed McCarville, of Dike, and Mildred. Bert and Harry are at home. There are five brothers; Will and Henry from Mason City, Luke from New Hartford, Herman from Maynard and John from Shell Rock. One sister, Mrs. Ed Huisman from Clarksville, survives.
