Ernie F. French Dies Suddenly

Ernie French, who spent most of his life in Grundy Center, died suddenly at his home in Grundy Center Thursday morning. He had completed his night shift on the Grundy Center police force, when he was suddenly stricken with a heart attack and died very shortly thereafter. He had been in good health up to a short time before he was stricken. He was 57 years old. The past 41 years he had resided in Grundy Center. He was born at Allenville, Ill., Dec. 24, 1893. He was married to Susie Ash in Grundy Center in 1928.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Grundy Center Saturday. The services were conducted by Rev. J. L. Pace. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Surviving are the wife and three children: Mrs. Wendell Hoekstra, Wellsburg; Kenneth and Edward, both of Cedar Falls. Other surviving relatives are his step-mother, Mrs. Rose French, and a half-sister, Mrs. Velva Barfels. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, one brother and one sister.
