Louis Meints Dies From Rare Disease

Louis T. Meints died at the University hospital at Iowa City last Friday from histoplasmosis, a disease affecting body tissues. It is a most rare disease and the first of its kind that was ever treated at the University hospital. He had been in failing health during most of the past year. 48 days before his death he was taken to the University hospital for treatment. His death followed only a few months after the death of his father, Ludwig T. Meints Sr. He would have been 35 years old on his next birthday. The death of Mr. Meints coming so early in life came as a shock to his family and to his many friends.

Resided Here All His Life
Louis Meints was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Meints. He was born and grew up on a Shiloh township farm and resided there all of his life. On April 20, he and Pearl Heetland were married and they began housekeeping on the Meints farm.

Surviving are the wife and three children, Larry, Dennis and Lois, the youngest, who is two years old. There are three brothers, Charles and Will, Wellsburg, and George, Steamboat Rock. There are three sisters, Mrs. Peter Eekhoff, Mrs. Richard Freese, Wellsburg, and Mrs. Marvin Jeske, Eldora.

Funeral Services Monday
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 11th, at one o'clock at the home and later at the First Christian Reformed church. Rev. Joseph VandeKieft was the officiating pastor. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Music was by the men's quartet, Claus Primus, Harvey Eiten, Alfred Eiten and Robert Cooper. Mrs. Arthur Cooper was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Edw. Mennenga and Mrs. Carl Reiter.

Casketbearers were Chris Christians, Harry Eekhoff, Edw. Mennenga, Emery Riekena, Carl Reiter and Herman J. Eekhoff.
